In lieu of the NBA lockout, two all-star rookie games will be showcased on Sept. 21 at the Maverik Center in West Valley City and Sept. 22 at the Marriott Center in Provo. Tip-off for both games will be at 7:00p.m. and tickets are already on sale.

Fredette will be the captain of one team coached by BYU’s Dave Rose, while the other team will be headed by Leonard and San Diego State coach Steve Fisher. The other players have yet to be named, but Jimmer Fredette told KSL Radio on Monday that he expects that fellow point guard and friend Kemba Walker (Charlotte draft pick), along with two current Sacramento rookies, Isaiah Thomas and Tyler Honeycutt, to participate in the contests. With other NBA stars such as Kevin Durrant, Brandon Jennings, Kobe Bryant, James Harden and Ron Artest participating in “pick-up” style games, to stay competitive and in shape, these exhibition games will allow these rookies to do the same.

Of the event Fredette said, “I’m really looking forward to making my debut as a professional in front of the fans who have so passionately supported me during my time at BYU.” This is truly an event that no one wants to miss, including myself, so I will see you there!

Tickets for both games are on sale now at the respective venue’s box offices, websites or by phone (Maverik Center: 3200 South Decker Lake Dr. West Valley City, Utah 84119; www.maverikcenter.com or 1-800-745-3000; Marriott Center: 500 E.
