The Banana Leaf

May 02, 12 The Banana Leaf

Are you looking for a truly new and international food experience?  The Banana Leaf, which features cuisine from Singapore and Sri Lanka, is probably your best bet if you really are trying to experience new cuisine.

The restaurant is located at 409 N University Ave in Provo.  It’s a converted house that sticks out prominently with a red-paint exterior.  Once inside, however, it has a feel which much more closely represents the regions of the world from which the cuisine comes.

The menu is good sized and you should expect to pay $10-$15 for an entree.  Unless you’re familiar with food from Sri Lanka or Singapore, you should probably ask your server, who will most likely be quite familiar with the cuisine, for suggestions.

The food is excellent!  Though meats can definitely be found on the menu, the majority of the dishes are filled with vegetables, making the eatery a good option for vegetarians or even vegans.  It is likely that many of the dishes, and many components of each dish, contain foods and sauces you’ve never tasted or even heard of before.  You may find yourself thinking, “I don’t have a clue what I’m eating, but it’s really good!”  There really is something for everyone here, weather it’s sweet, spicy, crunchy, succulent, or something that brings them all together.

So if you’re looking for good food, a new experience, or just want to show off how adventurous or culture you are The Banana Leaf is a great option.  Check it out!
