Gloria’s Little Italy

Jul 22, 11 Gloria’s Little Italy

Located on Center Street in Provo is a quaint little Italian trattoria. The red and white checkered tablecloths, the Italian architectural feel, and of course the sounds of Italy’s best voices make the eating environment at Gloria’s Little Italy truly authentic. It is a family-run business, and Gloria herself is the head chef. Along with her husband Mauro and their children, they have transformed the corner of Center Street not only into a restaurant, but also into an ethnic and cultural experience. You will find only true Italian food here, unlike the cross-culture experience at Slab Pizza.

Gloria's Little ItalyMy husband and I went here in search of some fine dining, and we found just what we were looking for. We were so impressed with the atmosphere and the friendliness of the staff. Our waiter took great care of us, refilling our basket of bread whenever we ran out–of course with oil and vinegar included. I was craving pasta, so I got the farfalle (bowtie) pasta with the 5 formaggi sauce–a mixture of five imported Italian cheeses. It was delicious! My husband usually goes more for the spicy side of the menu, so he ordered the penne pasta with amatriciana sauce. When the menu says spicy, you better believe it. It was a little too hot for me, but he loved the crushed red pepper flakes and onion combo.

We even splurged at the end of our meal and finished off with a saccotino, filo dough with apple filling served with gelato. Although we were more than full when we left, the meal was phenomenal. This is one of the best Italian restaurants in Provo.
