Divine Comedy

Nov 02, 11 Divine Comedy

If you are looking for comedy in Provo, one of the funniest comedy groups that I have seen is BYU’s Divine Comedy.

Divine Comedy puts on a show every month.  The show consists of a number of pre-planned skits.  During the show they also throw a lot of things into the audience, especially a lot of glow sticks.  It is good and clean humor.  It helps if you live in Utah county because a lot of jokes refer to the culture there and of college student living.

All of the shows are done on BYU Campus.  They are usually in the Tanner Building, but at the end of the semester they are in the Joseph Smith building, allowing more people to attend.

BYU Divine Comedy GroupThere is an overall theme of each show.  Usually it is a spoof of a well known and popular movie.  Past shows have been based on Aladdin, Harry Potter, Little Mermaid, etc.  You can watch some videos that they have done if you are unsure if you will enjoy them.

The next shows are on November 11 and 12 and the theme will be based off of the movie X-Men: First Class.  If you haven’t yet seen the movie yet I would recommend watching it before going to the show to understand every joke that they make during the show.

Tickets sell out fast to BYU Divine Comedy shows.  They go on sale the Monday before the show in the Wilkinson Center information desk for only $5.  Plan ahead to be sure that you get tickets.

Divine Comedy is very enjoyable and a cheap and fun date idea.  You will want to go early because the seats are first come, first serve.  I usually grab food at a restaurant in Provo before the show and eat while we wait in line.

Enjoy the show, I’m sure it will be a good one.
