BYU Basketball

Oct 19, 11 BYU Basketball

byu basketballOne of the few good things about the weather turning colder is that it means that it is soon time for the BYU basketball team to start their season!  BYU basketball games are a source for great excitement in Provo.

It is great going to the games and being in the student section and standing and screaming for your team with all of the other students around you.  Watching games makes you proud of your team, and you never have to worry about the weather for other sports such as BYU Women’s soccer because it is indoors.

If you are not a student at BYU you can still go to the games by buying a ticket and enjoy the atmosphere.  You will even be able to sit down, which is something that those in the student section can’t do if they want to see the game.

One of the biggest questions for this year’s team is who is going to stand out on this years BYU basketball roster?

While Jimmer Fredette and Jackson Emery will nbrandon davieso longer be playing for BYU, there are still good players on BYU.  Some of the more notable returning players are Brandon Davies, Noah Hartsock, Charles Abouo, and a healthy Chris Collinsworth.

BYU will have experience in the front court which will hopefully help them win games.  Players in the back court will have less experience but those players will likely grow quickly throughout the year.

The first game is on Wednesday October 26, 2011 at 7 p.m. in the Marriott Center on BYU Campus.  The Cougars will be scrimmaging against themselves which is sure to be entertaining.

There are many young players that have great potential for this season as well as in later years.  Only two seniors are on this years roster so while this year BYU will have a good team, the upcoming years should be even better.  Among those that develop this year, Tyler Haws will likely return to BYU after his mission to the Philippines for the 2012-2013 season.  You should check out the BYU basketball team schedule to see which games you can go to and cheer the Cougars on.
